TAILES

Apollonia Vanova - Toronto, Canada

Sculpture

Objects of desire rarely fulfill the illusion that they promise. As a result, repressed desires manifest themselves in the subconscious, through dreams and instinct.

'Tailes' consists of a series of bull whips woven into a structure. Taken out of context, the object's purpose and meaning is distorted. It becomes a symbol that is not only alluring but terrifying.

A graduate from ECUAD in Vancouver BC, apprentice to Sculptor Tomasso Gismondi in Italy, Apollonia explores narcissism in contemporary society.
