Nests

Shannon Partridge - Toronto, Canada

Installation

Nests, consists of an installation of 50 illuminated interwoven pipe-cleaner sculptures set in various trees along Bloor Street West between Dufferin and Lansdowne.

Referencing the nest architecture of various insects and wildlife, which depend on Toronto’s trees for their habitats, these sculptural nests form a treasure hunt for the eyes.

Through travel and observation the installation heightens awareness of our urban environment and the importance of community, specifically the relationships and interactions between plants, insects, and animals (humans included).

Discover the nest sites independently or follow a map (at the link below) for sculpture locations.

The map includes information on the individual species each nest is inspired by, including their valuable role in Toronto ecosystems.
