In January 2012 thousands of Russian activists were banned from publicly protesting against alleged local election corruption. In response they staged a demonstration of small toys which, unfortunately, was also banned by authorities. In appreciation of these activists, Workparty will be staging a similarly spirited protest at Toronto City Hall.
Workparty is an evolving collective of artists and designers based in Toronto. For this project, participants are Bonnie Devine, Mike Dudek, Martina Hwang, Ryan Legassicke, Paul Kawai, Gwen MacGregor, Lewis Nicholson, Lena Rubisova, Stephen Fisher, Elliot Vredenburg and Emma Wright.
