Mobile Narratives : Temporary Occupations

Michelle Liu - Toronto , Canada

Social Sculpture

Mobile Narratives is a storytelling, spontaneously unfolding table/gathering space on wheels. The bike powered pancake grilling cart weaves through the 'post-industrial' city, temporarily occupying spaces like the precarious migrant workers of typified global metropolis.

Taking stories from migrant workers in Shanghai, the project explores the question of the global ‘we’ in the productive relations of space and political-economy, creating a momentary link through an exchange of the multi-narratives of everyday life, and enabling path through the disabling spaces of enclosure. The stories of immigrant Toronto can intersect with the stories of migration and survival of another city in the process of urban-geographical restructuring.
Everybody is invited to stop by, share a story, leave a note or a sketch, enjoy a pancake and drive the human-powered griddle.
