Toronto: A City of Dreams

Rae Johnson - Toronto, Canada

Video Animation Projection

Seen from Bond Street, a dream-like montage of moving and still images are projected through the windows of Mackenzie House, metaphorically blurring memory and history with contemporary life in Toronto.

Rae Johnson has exhibited her paintings  across Canada, in New York, Rome, Switzerland and Berlin since 1982.  She  co-founded Chromazone\ Chromatique, an early artist-run gallery on Spadina, that spear-headed the new figurative movent in painting in Canada. In addition to painting, Rae has performed  experimental music and performance. In 2011, Rae Johnson curated This is Paradise at MoCCA, Toronto and in 2012 curated TORONTO BERLIN 1982 - 2012, in Berlin. Rae Johnson is an Associate Professor in  the Faculty of Art, OCAD University, Toronto.
