Sculpture

Most people believe they look primarily to the faces of the people they interact with to read emotions. An Emotional Lexicon uses only headless stick figures to teach different ways of understanding. By removing the primary indices of emotion, this Lexicon is like a dictionary that acts to show viewers what emotion looks like in the body. By teaching this, the viewer is invited to inhabit the sculpture’s emotional space, and learn a bit about their own emotional landscape.

Michael Jursic is an elementary school teacher at Winchester Public School. This is his 2nd year working with his students in Scotiabank Nuit Blanche.
