Clare Twomey: Piece by Piece

Clare Twomey - Ipswich, United Kingdom

Installation

Acclaimed British artist Clare Twomey - internationally renowned for her interactive interventions in prestigious British and American museums, creates a spectacular commissioned installation about making and collecting, viewed through the lens of the Gardiner's 18th-century European porcelain galleries.

Piece by Piece features an army of over 2,000 ceramic figurines – based on three objects from the Gardiner’s Commedia dell’Arte collection – which demonstrate the conflicting emotions of everyday life. It also features an on-site artist/maker creating more statuettes to add to the ever-growing ghostly white world.

Scotiabank Nuit Blanche will be the first time Clare's work will be shown in Canada.
