Visual Art

Contemporary Deaf body sculptures and performance capture sign language conversations. Artist Enza Iovio creates a live sculpture that grows throughout the night. Performance Artists “come to life,” and mimic audience members as they converse. Body sculptures and performances are produced amidst Deaf View photographs set in an award winning gallery.

Nine Canadian Deaf photographers reflect Deaf View Image Art (De'VIA) photography. Their photographs celebrate Deaf experience with emphasis on hands, eyes, movement and values. Fifty eight photographs capture the movements of sign language conversation and dance, embed signs and fingerspelling playfully and explore photography as social commentary. Photographers with sign language interpreters converse about their work.

Live Performances: 7:30 pm, 9:00 pm, 11:00 pm, and 1:00 am.
