Useless Beauty: notions of beauty and utility will exhibit works that address notions of hybridity, gender, race, beauty, utility, and fashion with visions of technological utopias. Including photographs and objects by KC Adams, kinetic sculptures by Lois Anderson and video projections by David Krippendorff. After her residency at OCAD earlier in the week, ORLAN will perform live via video link from Vancouver. Opening in the Professional Gallery will be Design for the Other 90%. This exhibition is a collection of design solutions addressing the basic needs of poor and marginalized populations not traditionally serviced by professional designers. Student work will be displayed in Transit Space and the show Before I Forget.. will be in the OCAD Student Gallery. Sketching Beauty, an all night sketch crawl, will take place outside in Butterfield Park.
