Performance Art, Multimedia Installation
The walls of the Cameron House come to life with a video installation and Napoleon Brousseau’s “restoration performance” of the ants that adorn the bar’s exterior.
Rob Pilichowski evokes the Cameron’s past with a multimedia installation. Video projections in the windows give passersby a voyeuristic peak into the lucky breaks and heartaches of the bar’s past denizens. At street level, a film about unexpected musical relationships forged at the bar plays in the front window.
In 1984 Brousseau created the massive ants crawling up and down the building as an homage to the active colony of working individuals who passed through its doors. Made from plywood, newspaper, duct tape, coat hangers, and spray paint, the ants will be restored, ghostly metallic ants will be added and a Queen will be crowned.
